Imagine wandering in a small town, seeing colourful vans with surf boards on the roof, checking out tiny shops established by creative people with guts, and tasting acai bowls and chai latte with ginger in the organic food store. I’m talking about my favourite town in Maui, Paia.

Imagine. Imagine that you’ve got no plans for the day. Imagine that you feel up for a relaxed, but still adventurous day, so you’re not wearing makeup, but meet with some friends, eat and talk together. Talk about what you left and why you left for travels. Talk about what has changed within you that the closest people to you can’t grasp. That’s what we did that day in Paia; Alicia, Ran and I.

Forestill deg at du føler for en avslappet men fortsatt eventyrlig dag, så du går uten sminke og møter noen venner, spiser og snakker sammen. Snakker om hvorfor du forlot hjemlandet og hvem du forlot. Snakker om hva som har forandret seg i deg som de nærmeste ikke kan forstå. Det var det vi gjorde den dagen i Paia; Alicia, Ran og jeg.
Imagine. Imagine being on Island Fresh, the sun is shining and you decide to go together to Hóokipa Beach. Not to do anything special, just exist. With the intention of not doing anything special, you end up doing so much more and being so much more happy about the small things. Tasting fresh fruit you’ve maybe never seen or tasted; starfruit, guava, coconuts, papaya and rambutan. Recognising that the rambutan look exactly like EOS except for the “hair”.
/ Forestill deg. Forestill deg å være på Island Fresh, solen skinner og dere bestemmer dere for å dra til Hóokipa Beach. Ikke for å gjøre noe spesielt, bare eksistere. Med intensjonen om å ikke gjøre noe spesielt ender du opp med å gjøre så mye mer meningsfullt som gjør deg glad. Som å smake frisk frukt som du kanskje ikke har sett før eller smakt; stjernefrukt, guava, kokosnøtter, papaya og rambutan. Og du legger merke til hvordan rambutan er prikk lik en EOS minus håret.
Imagine. Imagine that this relaxed day could easily have been spent on watching Netflix or something else, but because you were in Maui, you decided to get out and explore instead. You decided to take a step out of the comfort zone and find much more meaning than if you didn’t. Imagine that if you stayed at home, and how you would’ve missed the friends time, colourful, new fruit, and the ocean breeze in your face. What do you want to imagine, and what reality do you want to live in?
/ Forestill deg. Forestill deg at denne avslappede dagen lett kunne vært brukt på å ligge inne og se på Netflix, men fordi du var i Maui, bestemte du deg for å dra ut og utforske i stede. Du bestemte deg for å ta steget ut av komfortsonen og finne mye mer mening enn om du ikke gjorde det. Forestill deg at du valgte å være hjemme og hvordan du ville gått glipp av både vennetid, fargerik, frisk frukt og havbrisen i fjeset. Hva vil du forestille deg, og hvilken virkelighet vil du leve i?
