The first Saturday I spent in Cape Town we went to Oranjezicht City Farm Market. I had no expectations for this market, and maybe that’s why it turned out to be such a great experience as well. It’s located at Sea Point, so would encourage to walk the Promenade to get there! The market is basically a weekly farmers’ market offering produce, breads, eggs & dairy products, flowers and plans, plus artisanal foods. I had some typical South African food, we took some photos among the plants and veggies, and wandered around.
The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock

The Old Biscuit Mill is located in a really old part of Cape Town called Woodstock. Woodstock is an edgy, evolving neighborhood where hipster cafes, veggie eateries and galleries occupy old factories covered with vivid murals. Would say this market is my favorite this far, because of the total vibe of it. It’s got a great area with music where you can chill in the sun, a huge section with lots of great foods and drinks of all sorts, and another section with eco-friendly jewellery and clothes. I haven’t bought a thing for about a year, but when I came here I allowed myself to buy a jacket and some jewellery to support local businesses and disadvantaged communities. In that way I know that what adds value to me also adds value to someone else by me purchasing it. In total, I would really recommend The Old Biscuit Mill based on my experience!
The Watershed & V&A Food Market

Watershed & V&A Food Market is a must visit if you’re in the Waterfront area – the main tourist area. These markets are a bit more set up and not that casual than other markets because they’re open every single day during the week. Would maybe prefer the Food Market over the Watershed. At the Food Market, make sure to try Life Unframed Ice Cream – an eco-friendly and vegan ice cream!
