Den fineste naturopplevelsen så langt i Byron Bay har vært å gå til The Lighthouse. Du vil trenge ca. to timer for å få en optimal opplevelse av gåturen langs Cape Byron. Likevel er turen så rik på vakre utsikter at du ikke må bli overrasket om du har lyst til å gjøre det hele en gang til når du når enden. Dette er faktisk den beste måten å se naturomgivelsene i Byron Bay på.
/ The most beautiful nature experience thus far in Byron Bay has been the walking trail to The Lighthouse. You’ll need a good two hours to properly experience the Cape Byron walking track – but it’s so rich in delights, so don’t be surprised if you reach the end and feel like doing it all again. In fact, it’s one of the best ways to spend a couple of hours on the state’s entire coast.
Den 3,7 km lange turen fører deg gjennom regnskog og tvers over klaffer med fantastisk utsikt over havet og innlandet. På veien vil du vandre i skyggen av palmer, over gressområdene til kenguruene, langs utrolige strender og opp til Cape Byron fyrtårn. Husk å holde øye med vannet for å se skilpadder, delfiner og stingrays.
/ The 3.7km loop leads you on a hike through rainforest and across clifftops with stunning views of the ocean and hinterland. En route you’ll wander through the shade of bangalow palms and ancient burrawangs, across kangaroo grasslands, along picturesque beaches and up to Cape Byron Lighthouse. Remember to keep an eye out on the water for turtles, dolphins, stingrays and, in season, whales.
Vi valgte å starte turen i fire-tiden for å gå gjennom skogen fram mot solnedgangen. Det ga et spektakulært lys og en enda bedre naturopplevelse. I sekstiden nådde vi toppen ved Cape Byron Lighthouse før vi gikk ned for å se den mest østlige delen av australsk land. Nydelig tur!
/ We chose to start the tour 4pm to be able to walk through the forest until sunset. We were able to get spectacular light through the trees and an even better scenic experience. 6pm we reached the top of the Cape Byron Lighthouse before we went down to see the most eastern point of Australian mainland. A lovely trip!
