Yoga in the morning
Every morning during the full weekend we were in Meretes Garden, I got up early to do yoga in the gardening house. I smelled the flowers, watched the fish in pond, and sat in silence. I was thinking about how nature reflects us and opposite.. It’s important to remember that you are a part of nature so when you honor it, by for example doing yoga, you honor yourself. The way you treat nature says something about how you view yourself. When we littler, pollute, and disregard nature, we are disrespecting ourselves as well. Imagine that the landscape in front of you is a vast extension of your body, and just as your body is positively or negatively affected by what you put on it and into it, so is the great landscape. Treat nature as well as you do your own body – with the wonderment, care, and nurturing it deserves. Honor nature to honor yourself.
Wholefoods breakfast
In Merete’s Garden, you get to use the kitchen at any time. All we did was to go to the local grocery store and get the whole foods we needed to prepare a good meal. In the kitchen, which is basically in the same room as the living room and Merete’s office, you’re surrounded by all sorts of inspiration. Books about yoga & wellness, love & kindness, and lots of plants and simple, minimalistic interior. The best thing is that you always feel welcome in there. Always. Merete’s presence is wonderful. If the weather is good you can always sit outside in the garden – surrounded by flowers and cats.
Sleeping in tents
The unique part about Merete’s Airbnb is that you’ll sleep in tents in luxurious beds! Yes, there’s beds in tents, with comfy and warm duvets and pillows so that you won’t be cold at all. If you’re one of the cold types, Merete has made sure to put a “heating bottle” in each of the tents so that you can fill it with warm water. Lovely! The tents are located closest to the river on the property which makes it super convenient to take a morning dip and head into the bath house for a shower/bath.
Afternoon in the Japanese Garden
The property has been in Merete’s family for three generations. She aimed to take care of it all when her parents died, but she wanted to turn it into something unique and special. Because she’s been travelling the world (like me), lived in Denmark and visited Japan, she made the gardening house into a Japanese garden with western style. I could totally feel the vibe as I entered the house. I don’t think I can express it better than that you feel calm and present when you get in there. She told me a story about the Japanese fish in the pond as well; that they are there to remind us all of listening more and being more silent. And one of the plants in there grew through the roof, which for her was a symbol of growing outside of your comfort zone. Beautiful, hah?
Cold dip and warm bath
Last year, Merete built a new bath house on the property that includes a massage room, a several bath room, a living room to heat up and grab a cup of coffee in, a sauna, and a loft to just simply enjoy the view of the mountains and waterfalls. I had to take a swim in the river, which wasn’t too hard after a long day in the sun. It was beyond refreshing. Amazing to end it with a warm bubble bath in the bath house. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Good luck!
Hi!
I would really like to bring my boyfriend Kastytis here as I want to show him more of what Norway has to offer and especially in such picturesque surroundings in our own county, Møre og Romsdal!!
One of the things that makes Kastytis unique is that he never do things half-way.
He’s passionate about what he do, and whether he is working on a project for school, work, etc. he has the determination that only a superhero would have to accomplish it with ultimate perfection.
Fingers crossed!
