You know that the world has become digitalised and globalised when even Galapagos Islands has got Airbnbs! Of course, as before, we got some good deals and a pleasant stay on Santa Cruz Island and Isla Isabela.
2. Suite in Gecko Guest House in Puerto Ayora
Just a ten-fifteen minute walk to the center of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, is Gecko Guest House, the first place we stayed at. We got our own room with three beds – which was more than we needed, a little bathroom, a place to cook simple food and a cosy place to sit outside. Our host, Alex, was very accommodating and helpful before, throughout and after the stay. Overall this experience was definitely enjoyable, given the safe atmosphere of the guest house and its walkable proximity to downtown or Tortuga Bay. Housekeeping even cleaned the room every day, making the beds and cleaning the dishes! I don’t think our Airbnb in Puerto Ayora could have been more convenient for us.
Casa Sol Isabela in Puerto Villamil
The same day as we were gonna leave to Isla Isabela, I reached out to Mauricio and asked if we could come. And he answered quickly and let us come! Mauricio communicated well and was friendly, and the house keeper who could only speak Spanish, was also a lovely lady. When we arrived at Casa Sol Isabela we were astonished by the view that we had in front of us. The hotel is basically on the beach – perfect for Duke and I who love to get up in the morning to take a fresh morning swim. This space was central to travel agencies and in town restaurants. Everything is in walking distance, even the port. Despite that the internet wasn’t too good, the kitchen tools was out of shape and in general wasn’t too luxurious, this is certainly a good accommodation for adventurers or solo travelers who would like a quiet space on the beach with beautiful views for sunsets and sunrises.
